Julian and Devin were married on June 22nd with a ceremony at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church and a reception at The Haley Mansion at the Inn at Mystic.
A mutual friend setup these two to go to prom together and the rest was history. They dated the summer after that, then long distance through college (Julia at Dartmouth in NH and Devin at Columbia in NYC), and they have been together ever since.
The couple shared their first vacation together on a trip to Scotland and Ireland last summer. They stumbled upon a remote spot on the coast of Ireland that they both found especially beautiful and Devin created his masterplan. Devin brought Julia back to that magical spot and proposed early the next morning.
The day of the wedding was absolutely perfect; a warm and breezy day with cloud coverage in the sky. I met Julia at the Haley Mansion where her and her bridesmaids were laughing and dancing around. Their spirits were incredibly high as we moved to the bridal suite to get her into her dress. The moment when Julia got into her dress and her mom and sister shrieked with pure excitement is always one of my favorite photos to capture.
We headed from Haley Mansion towards downtown Mystic where the Saturday streets were bustling with tourists. Julia wanted a first look with her dad, so we met him in front of the church. I always get so excited to set up a bride’s dad for a first look because there are so many incredible emotions shared. I have had fathers who are shaking with nerves, super excited and occasionally the sweet ones who are already sobbing before I even set them up. On this particular day, Tom was beaming with pure JOY and had one of the bests smiles and laughs I have ever witnessed. He was just so excited to his baby girl getting ready to marry the love of her life, and who can blame him?!
The couple prayed together, sang together, and exchanged their vows surrounded by all their loved ones. After the ceremony, they exited in “Chloe”, a VW bus decorated with a “just married” sign…..so incredibly cute !
I always think it’s so fun when couples decide to choreograph their first dance – like what a first impression to make as husband and wife, right?! Julia and Devin took it even further and had Devin’s sister choreograph not only their first dance, but also all the parent dances. WOW WOW WOW, is all I can say! All the dances were fantastic and hats off to Kerry for creating such beautiful dances.
Julia and Devin, you two truly complete each other. As soon as you saw each other for the first look, any stress or nerves literally disappeared and it was such a joy to witness how incredibly in love you both are. So glad to call you friends! Congrats to the newlyweds!!
