Annie and Ben were married on August 18th, with a ceremony and a reception at the Madison Beach Club in Connecticut.
Annie and Ben grew up on the opposite sides of Connecticut and both were athletes throughout school. They ended up playing sports in college where Annie rowed at Northeastern and Ben played baseball at Wentworth. So it was fitting how they met – Annie subbed for a softball team that Ben was playing on. Their friendship grew on and off the field when they used to go with friends for post game drinks and eventually they knew it was something more.
From the bride –
It was literally perfect. Ben and I went to Iceland the end of October. The last day was rainy, windy and cold but that didn’t stop us, we drove up to the Northwest side of the island and hiked around at different locations. We were literally soaking wet, if you ever go to Iceland bring waterproof pants. On the way back to Reykjavik, Ben had a location he wanted to stop at. Back story – I am obsessed with lighthouses, I mean I have a collection of gold ornaments from Graders Jewelers that my dad gets me every year. I just think they are amazing. So Ben found a location with two lighthouses. One being one of the oldest lighthouses on the island. By the time we got there it was starting to be dark and we realized just as we drove up the lighthouse was closed but that was fine. They are beautiful, Akranes Lighthouse in Akranes, Iceland. We walked around looked at them, they are so simple and beautiful. Just as about I’m getting ready to turn back Ben asks if I saw everything and if there was anything else I wanted to do, then he said some more things and got down on one knee. In total utter shock I yelled out “what are you doing?!?” and started crying. It was the best moment of my life, the wet and cold just went away and it was just us between the lighthouses – it was perfect. After the crying and hugging we walked over to one of the only white sands beaches on the island and went looking for sea glass then drove back to the city. That night, our last night in Iceland we also finally saw the Northern Lights.
SWOOOOON! Seriously – great job Ben! You planned that all out, carried a ring on you to Iceland and proposed to the girl of your dreams in the pouring rain? Priceless.
Now, at last, they are getting married. My second photographer, Irena and I were a bit nervous about the huge lingering storm clouds but couldn’t help but think how epic they were for a ceremony backdrop. Annie and Ben had their hearts set on having the ceremony outside overlooking the water so we started a little early and hoped for the clouds to change direction. As the wedding party walked down the aisle a few trickles of rain starting coming down and then started to crescendo with each new person. Annie and her dad started walking down and literally right when her dad handed her to Ben it started POURING! What a way to make an entrance!
I was so very happy that Annie was able to get those photos with her dad walking down the aisle outside. Annie’s father almost couldn’t make it to the wedding so that moment was huge and way more important than a little rainstorm! The ceremony was brought inside and everyone at the wedding was giggling and joking about how the rain was their favorite part of the day so far! The wedding guests were some of the best and were a true reflection of Annie and Ben.
The reception began and Annie had some fun surprises in store for Ben. She had custom bobblehead dolls of them made and an ice cream cake in addition to the wedding cake because it is his favorite. There were so many thoughtful additions throughout the day. From Annie’s earrings made with her future mother in law’s diamond and sapphires and her rose ring that was her great grandmothers Tiffany diamond put into a gold rose ring her grandfather had made for her mom. They even cut the cake with her dad’s naval sword! The night ended with one of the most epic dance parties that I have had the pleasure to witness.
Annie and Ben, I could go on and on about how perfectly you guys are for each-other. You both of hearts of gold and your love makes this world a better place. So happy that you chose me to share part of your love story with.

Amma
