Alessia and Dan were married on November 24th, with a ceremony at Christ Church and a reception at Latitude 41.
These two met when they were out one night at a bar in Patriot’s Place in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Dan fell for Alessia’s happy heart, and Alessia fell for his giving soul. Eventually, Dan proposed on the lookout tower overlooking Vancouver while they were on their way to a Hawaiian cruise. That way, they could start their trip out right.
Mystic Seaport Wedding Portraits
On the day of the wedding, my second shooter, Jessica Rich, and I started out at the Mystic Hilton to photograph the final preparations of the ladies all together. Alessia had an amazing pair of Badgley Mischka flats. Both stunning and practical- how can you go wrong? Once Alessia was ready, (and after a mimosa toast), we went to the Mystic Seaport for a first look and portraits.
The tiny village was already decorated for the holidays, so we had a chance to capture the picturesque décor of the seaport for the holiday. One of the tall ships was even in port, its sails providing such a unique backdrop for portraits. The wind off of the Long Island Sound was chilly in November, but Alessia had a lovely fur stole to guard against the wind. And, of course, it was the perfect excuse for her and Dan to cuddle up close!
Christ Church Ceremony
After all the pictures were done, we drove to Westerly to have the ceremony at Christ Church. People who aren’t from the area might not realize how close Mystic is to the Rhode Island border, but it’s only minutes away. So, for this wedding, I was both a Connecticut wedding photographer AND a Rhode Island wedding photographer! Sometimes, that’s how things go here in New England.
The Christ Church is truly beautiful, with high ceilings and an organ that takes up the entire wall. As Alessia walked down the aisle, Dan looked so happy. I love the way these two look at each other! After the beautiful church ceremony, we headed back into Mystic to Latitude 41 for the reception full of dancing, speeches, food, and lots of love.
A Touching Latitude 41 Wedding Reception
During the speeches, Dan’s sister and mother paid tribute to Dan’s father, who had passed away. And if that speech wasn’t touching enough, there was a moment later into the evening during the dancing, when Alessia and Dan pulled his sister into a group hug. The support and love they had for one other was nothing short of beautiful, and it was a lovely way to pay homage to their father.
Alessia & Dan, you two complement each other so well, and I am so thrilled for you guys. I am blessed to have met the both of you and look forward to our future friendship. Cheers to a bright future!
